Stories of transformation. Stories of hope. A place where families can connect to each other by disconnecting from their devices and stress of their daily life.
Oftentimes, the YMCA is lumped in with gyms and fitness clubs that provide a place to work out and maybe a few kids’ programs, but the Y is so much more than just a gym. The Y is a place that is filled with hope and belonging, with programming for all ages, abilities, skills, and interests.
The Y was founded, not as a gym, but as a community a hub—a place where people could come to improve their lives and their communities. Still today, the Y exists for that same purpose. Whether it’s a mom that needs a break from her kids and utilizes the fantastic drop in care for a few hours in the morning, or if it’s a family wanting their child to learn a sport for the first time, or a family looking to reconnect after a long week with a night of games and swimming at one of the Family Friday Nights, the Y is the perfect place to do it.
This month, all 5 locations affiliated with the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County are offering a free trial week for you and your family to come and check out the Y before the weather gets cold!
Now is the perfect time for your family to start enjoying the benefits of the YMCA. Here are the top 5 things staff and members love about the Y:
The Y has the most friendly staff around.
Whether it’s the front desk worker who knows everyone’s name, or the patient and caring staff at Child Watch who play games and do art projects with kids while you work out, the Y has motivated and caring staff that are passionate about taking care of their members.
The Y is a nonprofit, which means you can feel good about being a member.
The Y offers financial assistance to those in need and keeps doors open to all through this program. Y membership means more because you are part of a national movement that works in thousands of communities to improve lives through programs that build healthy minds, bodies and spirits in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Y cares deeply about the whole family.
Starting this Fall, the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County started offering family workout classes, Friday Family nights and Y Club, a program for 8-12 year olds. The Y provides Before and After School Care, full day daycare and tons of family programs and resources.
The Y is about improvement—both improving the facilities AND self-improvement!
The Y offers free Fit Start programs for all members that need a little jump start. In Fit Start, you work one on one with a coach who will help design a workout program for you based on your goals and interest. In the same vein, the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County has invested nearly $5 million into new equipment and facility improvements in the last 2 years.
The Y is invested in the community but has a global presence.
Each YMCA has volunteer opportunities, is present at community events and works closely with local health focused organizations. However, YMCA members can use any Y within the state of Wisconsin and throughout the country with their membership, meaning your family can have fun together and get a workout in anywhere that’s convenient for your work, travel or home schedule.
To learn more about the Y or if you want to start your free trial week, just visit the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County locations (listed below) between October 10 and November 4 to take a tour and meet a Y Connect staff to get started. We can’t wait to see what you love about the Y!
