A Milwaukee Mom’s Guide To The Month Of June 2016

If you are looking for a guide to keep you and your family entertained, look no further! We’ve started a monthly events guide to be sure you don’t miss a thing happening around Milwaukee.

June 4th Spring on Brady – 5th Annual Art Walk: Come on down to Brady Street to celebrate Spring as we bring you our 5th Annual Art Walk. Also shop amazing sidewalk sales along with spectacular dining and drink deals. Visit the local Art Market which will be set up outside in the courtyard near 1330 E. Brady Street. Nearly 20 merchants will be hosting live artists from painting and sketching, to pottery and even puppy artistry! Admission is free. 

June 4th 1870’s Base Ball Game at Old World Wisconsin: The striker is at the line, the ball is pitched – underhanded – and a daisy-cutter is muffed by the fielder. Experience our National Pastime through a recreated game on our authentic 1870 base ball diamond. Players of all ages can try their hand at batting and fielding following the game of historic base ball.

June 11th Rousing with the Roosters Breakfast at Old World Wisconsin: Extend your Life on the Farm experience. Try out the 19th-century lifestyle by working together in the Schottler bakehouse to prepare a sunrise meal the same way many early immigrant farmers did. We’ll work up an appetite as we feed the farm animals and tend to the gardens. We may even find some eggs or berries to add to our meal.

June 12th Ciclovia MKE: Ciclovía MKE is part of a global network of active-transportation efforts called Ciclovía, Open Streets, Viva Calle, Streets Alive and many other names. These events, which range from weekly to annually, encourage physical activity and promote broadening transportation choices.

June 14th 7th Annual Flag Day Celebration: Since 1969 when the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts opened its doors, they have been proud to be considered part of the Milwaukee County’s War Memorial honoring those who have bravely served the country. As part of their continued commitment to honor veterans for their heroic service, the Marcus Center host a Flag Day Celebration each year in Peck Pavilion.

June 15th Movie Night – Inside Out: Gift of Wings presents another Free Summer Night Movie in Franklin on Wednesday June 15th, 2016. Starting at Dusk on the grass area next the Franklin Public Library you can see Disney’s “Inside Out” After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.

June 17th-19th Lakefront Festival of Art: Lakefront Festival of Art (LFOA), the weekend-long festival held on the grounds of the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM), runs Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19, 2016. LFOA features the works of more than 175 national artists, including jewelers, painters, sculptors, photographers and more, along with food, entertainment, live music and activities for kids of all ages.

June 18th Hanging With Heroes hosted by MKE Moms Blog: We are beyond thrilled to announce our first ever Hanging with the Heroes event brought to you by The Rock Complex and North Shore Bank, an event celebrating the heroes in our lives from Superman to Superdad! This event will take place at The Umbrella Bar at The Rock Complex in Franklin on the Saturday of Father’s Day Weekend.

June 19th Scandinavian Midsommar Celebration at Old World Wisconsin: Raise the Majstáng and celebrate the solstice in traditional Swedish style with music and dancing. Scandinavian Midsommar activities take place on The Green, as well as in our Norwegian area, and are free (admission to the museum is separate). This event is sponsored by the Swedish American Historical Society of Wisconsin.

June 25th East Troy Railroad Railfan Day: View all operating railroad cars, trolleys, street cars, engines and equipment — and ride a different train every hour — at the East Troy Railroad Museum. Trains depart from the East Troy Depot on the hour from 10:00am through 3:00pm and stop at the Elegant Farmer on the way to Indianhead Park in Mukwonago.

June 25th Daddy Daughter Tea Party: $25 per person includes Afternoon Tea Service, photobooth opportunity and free gift for the girls. Menu will include a tray of finger sandwiches, sweet sampling platter with fresh-made delicacies, and your own pot of freshly brewed tea. There will be a dad-friendly and kid-friendly option! Each Princess also receives a special crown!

June 29th Walk With Me at the Zoo: LET’S FLAMINGLE!  Join us on Wednesday evening, June 29th, at the Milwaukee County Zoo as we take great “strides” in helping individuals with disabilities at our 10th Annual Walk With Me.  Your support of this signature walk event helps us provide children and adults with autism and other disabilities the opportunities to live, learn, work and play in our communities.
