April 1 MKE Moms Blog 2nd Annual Family Egg Hunt We are excited to announce our 2nd Annual Family Egg Hunt coming up on Saturday, April 1st at The Midwest Orthopedics Sports Complex in Brookfield! Back by popular demand, we will have a morning filled with family friendly activities, photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, snacks/refreshments, prizes, giveaways and of course an egg hunt (broken down by age!)
April 1 The Battle of the Badges During the Battle of the Badges, local police officers and firefighters battle it out on the ice to benefit Easterseals’ autism and veterans programs.
April 1 Family Tales by the Fire: Billy Goats Gruff Calling families and children of all ages for Tales by the Fire! Join us for storytelling by the fireplace in the Kuttemperoor Grand Hall, and stay for treats following the performance. An after-school game of hide-and-seek is ruined for three billy goat friends when a big bully blocks a bridge, preventing them from returning home. As each goat chooses how to deal with the conflict, all three learn how compassion can turn a would-be adversary into a new friend. Based on scenes from the operas of Mozart, Donizetti, and Rossini, this operatic version of The Billy Goats Gruff performed by Florentine Opera Company reminds audiences of all ages that kindness is contagious.
April 1 Mad Hatters Tea Party You are cordially invited to a Mad Hatters Tea Party! This event will include a fun story time, tea (fruity kids tea or juice), petit sandwiches, a ‘backward’ etiquette class and free play for the day!
April 1 Milwaukee’s Monthly Family Magic Show On the first Saturday of every month, come watch a rotating roster of family friendly magicians. Every month is a different show!!
April 1 Bedtime Stories with Author Janet Halfmann at Verlo Mattress in Wauwatosa Looking for a fun kid’s activity to get them out of the house during soggy spring days? Parents and families are invited to Verlo Mattress, the local sleep comfort expert, on Saturday, April 1 for a special Bedtime Stories event with Milwaukee children’s author Janet Halfmann for a live reading of her book, Good Night, Little Sea Otter. The free, pajama-friendly event invites families and children to enjoy story time with Janet Halfmann, the Milwaukee-based, accomplished author of more than 30 children’s books. Children can meet with Janet, listen to the reading of Good Night, Little Sea Otter, a book that encourages a bedtime routine, and help prepare for transitioning into a big-boy or big-girl bed! Each child will leave with a signed copy of the book and parents can leave with sleep tips from Verlo sleep advocate Julie Tramonte. There will be three readings at 9 am, 10 am, and 11 am at the Verlo Wauwatosa store.
April 2 Mr. Pete Sings Performance This 7th grade teacher got his start writing catchy songs about math and science for his students. They were so popular, he now travels all over the state getting kids and their families excited about dinosaurs, geometry, animals, photosynthesis and more! See Mr. Pete combine skits, dancing, jokes and audience participation in a fun show that will get you and the kids thinking!
April 2 Pancake Breakfast Are you ready for Safe Harbor Humane Society’s Annual Pancake Breakfast?! This year’s breakfast features an all NEW character. You will get a chance to meet a minion! The all you can eat breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee. In addition to the breakfast there will be a HUGE bake sale, raffle prizes, retail and jewelry sales. You will also be able to get a pro shot with the minion. Cost for adults is $7, seniors & kids under 12 $4. All tickets sold at the door the day of event. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit Safe Harbor Humane Society in Kenosha. Hope to see you there.

April 2 Riveredge Maple Sugarin’ Pancake Breakfast Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes! Join Riveredge to end the maple sugarin’ season with a party. April 4 Family Fun Night at Oak Creek Public Library Families Play the familiar game of BINGO while learning about what it means to be a good friend and how to begin new friendships. Family Fun Night is a regular monthly program put on by the Children’s Department of the Oak Creek Public Library. These events feature a wide variety of activities geared toward 5-10 year olds, though all ages are welcomed to participate.
April 7-8 “Sing!” Said She Join us for a Milwaukee Choristers’ FIRST: a program of compositions and arrangements solely by women, who have been chipping away at the choral music “glass ceiling” since the Middle Ages. Enjoy works by some of our favorite female composers including Judith Baity, Undine Smith Moore, Eleanor Daley and our own beloved accompanist, Patricia Ilika Black, PLUS beautiful arrangements of popular selections made famous by Celine Dion and Bette Midler.

April 8-15 Cheep, Cheep Easter Celebration at the Elegant Farmer This free, family-fun event features the Easter Bunny and a 4-H menagerie of bunnies in costume, baby chicks and guinea pigs for petting and enjoying. Visiting The Elegant Farmer each year at Easter, the 4-H members educate and introduce children of all ages to the animals they have raised and cared for as part of their 4-H project. Ride the East Troy Electric Railroad’s Bunny Train and make a grand entrance to meet the Easter Bunny at the Elegant Farmer. Easter specialty foods including CiderBaked ham, fresh breads, Easter basket candies and more.
April 9 Tartan Day Tea Come join us for a lovely afternoon of tea, sandwiches, cookies, and more!There will be traditional Scottish entertainment, including live music and dance performances by the Caledonian Scottish Dancers. April 15 11th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Johnson Creek Children 10 and under are invited to bring a basket and enjoy a free traditional egg hunt at Johnson Creek Premium Outlets. Bring your camera and visit with the Easter Bunny. The event will be held near the grassy plaza east of the Nike Clearance Store. 2 p.m. Free event.

April 15 Riveredge Family Easter Egg Hunt Join us for the most naturally fun Easter Egg Hunt around. Each child will venture out to search high and low for hidden eggs on Riveredge’s beautiful sanctuary. The best part? This is a candy-free hunt and prizes will be awarded to all participants. With three different start times, 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM there’s options for all schedules! After the hunt, discover the wonders of Wisconsin’s egg-laying animals and meet some barnyard friends! You’ll also have the opportunity to color eggs using natural dyes to take home with you! This event is sure to be a blast for the whole family! For everyone’s enjoyment, children will be divided according to age and bag limits will be set.

April 15-16 Paw Patrol Live: Race to the Rescue PAW Patrol is on a roll with the first-ever live tour! It’s the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race between Adventure Bay’s Mayor Goodway and Foggy Bottom’s Mayor Humdinger, but Mayor Goodway is nowhere to be found. PAW Patrol to the rescue! Ryder summons Marshall, Chase, Skye, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma and Everest to help. The pups share many lessons for all ages as they make heroic rescues on their race to the finish line.

April 22 Rock the Green’s 6th Annual Earth Day Celebration The Celebration is a great way to learn about Eco-friendly opportunities and support the community in its environmental efforts. Milwaukee Riverkeeper is proudly hosting their 22nd Annual Spring River Cleanup with nearly 4,000 volunteers joining together across the Milwaukee River Basin to pick up trash, get outdoors, and help to achieve swimmable, fishable rivers. Clean up Volunteers and the Community may join the free 6th Annual Earth Day Celebration Presented by Milwaukee Riverkeeper.

April 29 Walk for Waldorf and Flapjack Fundraiser Held at Tamarack Waldorf School, faculty, students and friends will start the event with a beautiful walk along the Milwaukee River and downtown streets. Upon returning to school, participants will indulge in piping hot pancakes and breakfast or vegan sausage, a raffle, mini-foot reflexology sessions, and more! Don’t want to walk? Come to eat! From 9am-12pm, guests will have a choice between buttermilk or buckwheat (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan-friendly) pancakes, and meat or meatless breakfast sausage. We will also have an array of breakfast toppings, in addition to juice and coffee to wash down this delicious flapjack breakfast.
