April is here and we couldn’t be more excited to see the green grass and the budding trees! This is your go-to guide for what’s happening in Milwaukee during this wonderful month!

April 1 MKE Moms Blog 2nd Annual Family Egg Hunt We are excited to announce our 2nd Annual Family Egg Hunt coming up on Saturday, April 1st at The Midwest Orthopedics Sports Complex in Brookfield! Back by popular demand, we will have a morning filled with family friendly activities, photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, snacks/refreshments, prizes, giveaways and of course an egg hunt (broken down by age!)

April 1 The Battle of the Badges During the Battle of the Badges, local police officers and firefighters battle it out on the ice to benefit Easterseals’ autism and veterans programs.

April 1 Family Tales by the Fire: Billy Goats Gruff Calling families and children of all ages for Tales by the Fire! Join us for storytelling by the fireplace in the Kuttemperoor Grand Hall, and stay for treats following the performance. An after-school game of hide-and-seek is ruined for three billy goat friends when a big bully blocks a bridge, preventing them from returning home. As each goat chooses how to deal with the conflict, all three learn how compassion can turn a would-be adversary into a new friend. Based on scenes from the operas of Mozart, Donizetti, and Rossini, this operatic version of The Billy Goats Gruff performed by Florentine Opera Company reminds audiences of all ages that kindness is contagious.

April 1 Mad Hatters Tea Party You are cordially invited to a Mad Hatters Tea Party! This event will include a fun story time, tea (fruity kids tea or juice), petit sandwiches, a ‘backward’ etiquette class and free play for the day!

April 1 Milwaukee’s Monthly Family Magic Show On the first Saturday of every month, come watch a rotating roster of family friendly magicians. Every month is a different show!!

April 1 Bedtime Stories with Author Janet Halfmann at Verlo Mattress in Wauwatosa Looking for a fun kid’s activity to get them out of the house during soggy spring days? Parents and families are invited to Verlo Mattress, the local sleep comfort expert, on Saturday, April 1 for a special Bedtime Stories event with Milwaukee children’s author Janet Halfmann for a live reading of her book, Good Night, Little Sea Otter. The free, pajama-friendly event invites families and children to enjoy story time with Janet Halfmann, the Milwaukee-based, accomplished author of more than 30 children’s books. Children can meet with Janet, listen to the reading of Good Night, Little Sea Otter, a book that encourages a bedtime routine, and help prepare for transitioning into a big-boy or big-girl bed! Each child will leave with a signed copy of the book and parents can leave with sleep tips from Verlo sleep advocate Julie Tramonte. There will be three readings at 9 am, 10 am, and 11 am at the Verlo Wauwatosa store.

April 2 Mr. Pete Sings Performance This 7th grade teacher got his start writing catchy songs about math and science for his students. They were so popular, he now travels all over the state getting kids and their families excited about dinosaurs, geometry, animals, photosynthesis and more! See Mr. Pete combine skits, dancing, jokes and audience participation in a fun show that will get you and the kids thinking!

April 2 Pancake Breakfast Are you ready for Safe Harbor Humane Society’s Annual Pancake Breakfast?! This year’s breakfast features an all NEW character. You will get a chance to meet a minion! The all you can eat breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee. In addition to the breakfast there will be a HUGE bake sale, raffle prizes, retail and jewelry sales. You will also be able to get a pro shot with the minion. Cost for adults is $7, seniors & kids under 12 $4. All tickets sold at the door the day of event. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit Safe Harbor Humane Society in Kenosha. Hope to see you there.

April 2 An Afternoon with Cinderella You Are Cordially Invited to An Afternoon with Cinderella! Wear your Prince or Princess attire for the royal ball! See the link for reservation details. 

April 2 Riveredge Maple Sugarin’ Pancake Breakfast Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes! Join Riveredge to end the maple sugarin’ season with a party. Join us for an amazing breakfast featuring Riveredge’s 100% pure maple syrup, “all you can eat” pancakes made with organic flour along with ham, coffee, and other beverages. We’ll have a band and lots of good friends around, so expect a party! The best part? The breakfast takes place outside right in the middle of the Riveredge sugarbush- you can’t beat that atmosphere! Dress for the weather and come hungry! We promise it’ll be the most fun breakfast you’ve ever had!

April 2 “Wiscon-Sing” at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center WISCON-SING has been seen throughout our state as a sing-along song and slide portrait of the state of Wisconsin. Folksinger and songsmith DAVID HB DRAKE will present. See the link for more information. 

April 4 Family Fun Night at Oak Creek Public Library Families Play the familiar game of BINGO while learning about what it means to be a good friend and how to begin new friendships. Family Fun Night is a regular monthly program put on by the Children’s Department of the Oak Creek Public Library. These events feature a wide variety of activities geared toward 5-10 year olds, though all ages are welcomed to participate.

April 7-8 “Sing!” Said She Join us for a Milwaukee Choristers’ FIRST: a program of compositions and arrangements solely by women, who have been chipping away at the choral music “glass ceiling” since the Middle Ages. Enjoy works by some of our favorite female composers including Judith Baity, Undine Smith Moore, Eleanor Daley and our own beloved accompanist, Patricia Ilika Black, PLUS beautiful arrangements of popular selections made famous by Celine Dion and Bette Midler.

April 8 15th Annual Pasta Extravaganza Come and hear testimonies for Brad Hayes and others about the many children and youth who are now living for Jesus!

April 8 Terrarium Making Workshop Learn how to make your very own terrarium using recycled jars! You’ll build a simple terrarium to take home. All materials provided. See the link for more pricing details. 

April 8 North Shore Kiwanis Annual Pancake Breakfast with the Bunny Enjoy delicious pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Kids can visit and get their photo with the Easter Bunny!! Raffles and Face Painting! 

April 8 Milwaukee Universal Baby Box Program Launch Stork & Company will be hosting the launch party for Milwaukee’s universal baby box program in partnership with The Baby Box Company and Milwaukee Public Libraries. Please RSVP for this event by following this link

April 8-15 Cheep, Cheep Easter Celebration at the Elegant Farmer  This free, family-fun event features the Easter Bunny and a 4-H menagerie of bunnies in costume, baby chicks and guinea pigs for petting and enjoying. Visiting The Elegant Farmer each year at Easter, the 4-H members educate and introduce children of all ages to the animals they have raised and cared for as part of their 4-H project. Ride the East Troy Electric Railroad’s Bunny Train and make a grand entrance to meet the Easter Bunny at the Elegant Farmer. Easter specialty foods including CiderBaked ham, fresh breads, Easter basket candies and more.

April 9 Tartan Day Tea Come join us for a lovely afternoon of tea, sandwiches, cookies, and more!There will be traditional Scottish entertainment, including live music and dance performances by the Caledonian Scottish Dancers.  Raffle including several items from local business. Individuals who wear tartan to be entered into a special raffle! 

April 9-16 Easter Bunny Brunch at Blackfinn Ameripub Hop on over to The FINN and celebrate with our special Easter Brunch! There will be a special photo op with the Easter Bunny and a specialty brunch menu.

April 15 11th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Johnson Creek Children 10 and under are invited to bring a basket and enjoy a free traditional egg hunt at Johnson Creek Premium Outlets. Bring your camera and visit with the Easter Bunny. The event will be held near the grassy plaza east of the Nike Clearance Store. 2 p.m. Free event.

April 15 Make Seed Bombs that Grow Anywhere! Seed bombs – balls of compost, clay and seeds – are the perfect way to spread native plant species to spaces that need life and color. Create your own seed bombs to plant this spring. All materials provided.

April 15 Egg Hunt at Little Sprouts Cafe Bring the family for an Easter Egg Hunt, Little Sprouts style. We’ll have an egg hunt, snacks, drinks, a craft, and photo booth! Our eggs will be packed with little treasures … everything from jelly beans to play passes. Don’t let the hunt stop with the kids. One egg will even hold a 3 month membership to our space!

April 15 Riveredge Family Easter Egg Hunt Join us for the most naturally fun Easter Egg Hunt around. Each child will venture out to search high and low for hidden eggs on Riveredge’s beautiful sanctuary. The best part? This is a candy-free hunt and prizes will be awarded to all participants. With three different start times, 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM there’s options for all schedules! After the hunt, discover the wonders of Wisconsin’s egg-laying animals and meet some barnyard friends! You’ll also have the opportunity to color eggs using natural dyes to take home with you! This event is sure to be a blast for the whole family! For everyone’s enjoyment, children will be divided according to age and bag limits will be set.

April 15 HOP to the Movies at Marcus Theaters – Bring the family to the “Hop To The Movies Spring Event.” Enjoy an Easter egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and a screening of the movie HOP! Admission includes all events and movie screening!

April 15-16 Paw Patrol Live: Race to the Rescue PAW Patrol is on a roll with the first-ever live tour! It’s the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race between Adventure Bay’s Mayor Goodway and Foggy Bottom’s Mayor Humdinger, but Mayor Goodway is nowhere to be found. PAW Patrol to the rescue! Ryder summons Marshall, Chase, Skye, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma and Everest to help. The pups share many lessons for all ages as they make heroic rescues on their race to the finish line.

April 16 Easter Family Event at the Boerner Botanical Gardens Come hang out with the Easter bunny, and join the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens for a morning of craft activities for kids and an egg hunt at noon at this FREE event!

April 16 Easter Brunch at Great Lakes Distillery Come have brunch at Great Lakes Distillery with over 12 different choices of brunch items! Check out the link to see the menu! 

April 20 Neighborhood Night at Betty Brinn Join us for FREE admission, courtesy of our sponsors, from 5 – 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month! Enjoy access to all of the Museum’s hands-on exhibits, and stop by our Be A Maker space to find tools, materials and techniques for endless ways to experiment and create.

April 22 Earth Day at Washington Park It’s a working celebration of the Earth! Bring your friends and spend a morning helping in our park followed by a community lunch. Meet new people and have fun helping the Earth!

April 22 Earth Day at Menomonee Park It’s a working celebration of the Earth! Bring your friends and spend a morning helping in Three Bridges Park followed by a community lunch at the Urban Ecology Center’s Menomonee Valley Branch. Meet new people and have fun helping the Earth!

April 22 22nd Annual Spring River Cleanup – Milwaukee Riverkeeper Clean a river near you this Earth Day! This annual cleanup effort, which results in the removal of many tons of trash from the Milwaukee River Basin, works towards improving the ecological and aesthetic quality of our local waterways.

April 22 Rock the Green’s 6th Annual Earth Day Celebration The Celebration is a great way to learn about Eco-friendly opportunities and support the community in its environmental efforts. Milwaukee Riverkeeper is proudly hosting their 22nd Annual Spring River Cleanup with nearly 4,000 volunteers joining together across the Milwaukee River Basin to pick up trash, get outdoors, and help to achieve swimmable, fishable rivers. Clean up Volunteers and the Community may join the free 6th Annual Earth Day Celebration Presented by Milwaukee Riverkeeper.

April 22 Earth Day of Service at Riverside Park It’s a working celebration of the Earth! Bring your friends and spend a morning helping in our park followed by a community lunch. Meet new people and have fun helping the Earth! Family hikes and “mini” service projects are available at 9:30 and 11am. 

April 22 Menomonee Valley Earth Day Clean-Up Join us in keeping Milwaukee beautiful with the Annual Menomonee Valley Earth Day Clean-Up in partnership with Milwaukee Riverkeeper!

April 22-23 re:Craft and Relic All things upcycled, vintage, and handmade from 150+ junkers, makers, artists, all under one roof! Join thousands of Etsy-loving, Pinterest-obsessed, and DIY enthusiasts shopping for everything from Shabby Chic, European antiques, salvaged items, vintage and antique furniture, architectural salvage, vintage-inspired jewelry, re-purposed and up-cycled treasures, and beautiful, handmade clothing and accessories. re:Craft and Relic is a two-day, indoor ticketed shopping and entertainment event open to the public located at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex, 6000 West Ryan Rd, Franklin, Wisconsin 53132, on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, from 10 am to 4 pm. The event opens early on Saturday at 9 am for the Exclusive Buyers’ Club and on Sunday at 10 am with the Sunday Bargain Pass!

April 27 Big League Fun Night at Betty Brinn Come explore our special Big League Fun exhibit and celebrate the all-American game with an evening filled with stadium-style snacks, guest appearances by Hank the Ballpark Pup and the Famous Racing Sausages, a commemorative family photo, and souvenirs for the kids (including the newest edition of the Hank, the Ballpark Pup book!)

April 29 Walk for Waldorf and Flapjack Fundraiser Held at Tamarack Waldorf School, faculty, students and friends will start the event with a beautiful walk along the Milwaukee River and downtown streets. Upon returning to school, participants will indulge in piping hot pancakes and breakfast or vegan sausage, a raffle, mini-foot reflexology sessions, and more! Don’t want to walk? Come to eat! From 9am-12pm, guests will have a choice between buttermilk or buckwheat (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan-friendly) pancakes, and meat or meatless breakfast sausage. We will also have an array of breakfast toppings, in addition to juice and coffee to wash down this delicious flapjack breakfast.
