Sundara Inn & Spa :: A Mother’s Me-Time Retreat

 sundara inn & spa
*I received a chance to experience Sundara Inn & Spa in exchange for this post. All opinions and experiences shared are my own and we would not promote a business or service to our readers that we did not personally enjoy! Sundara is truly one of a kind and we are thrilled to share this opportunity with our audience!

I can’t speak for all mothers, but I know that for me, the ideal gift my family could give me for Mother’s Day is the opportunity to step away from being a Mom for a little bit and invest in self-care. If I may be so bold, I would suggest that every single mother NEEDS to do this on a regular basis and Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to drive away from your normal routine and indulge in whatever feeds your soul.

Recently, I had the chance to enjoy a getaway at Sundara Inn & Spa in the Wisconsin Dells and I can tell you right now that this will be on my wish list every. single. year.

Sundara Inn & Spa is nestled in a wooded area of Wisconsin Dells, bordering Lake Delton. It is a calm oasis, hidden among the chaos of waterparks, mini-golf and magic shows and it’s an easy drive from Milwaukee of about 2 hours. I’m a work from home mom and I feel like I am operating at full throttle 24/7, so this getaway was just what I needed to slow down and really give myself permission to recharge. It was the perfect reminder of how important it is to make our mental, physical and spiritual health a priority!

After checking into the GORGEOUS suite, I headed to the spa where it took me a hot second to actually realize that it was really okay for me to do this, to enjoy the alone time, to appreciate that there were people there who were willing to pamper me and make my experience the best it could be. Anyone else struggle with feeling awkward about that sometimes? I enjoyed the Rest Assured Soak and Massage treatment which included a hot soaking bath with essential oils followed by what can only be described as the best massage of my life. The finale was a eco-fin treatment that was applied to my feet paired with 15 minutes of silent rest that left me in absolute heaven. Seriously, I don’t know what kind of magic oils they put in those booties, but I was it was RIDICULOUS. The motto of Sundara is to ‘Energize Your Soul’ and I walked out of the treatment room feeling exactly that!

Sundara Inn & Spa

Prior to my treatment, I experienced the Purifying Bath Ritual. All guests of Sundara Inn & Spa have unlimited access to the Purifying Bath Ritual which includes the following:

  • Rainfall Shower and Exfoliation
  • Soothing Body Mist
  • Aroma Steam
  • Cooling Rainfall Shower
  • Hot Pool
  • Cool Plunge Pool
  • Relaxation Lounge

In addition to the world-class spa, guests can enjoy the quiet of Tranquility Garden, the outdoor heated pool that’s available year round (complete with a heated deck and fire pit), plus there are hiking trails for meditation or enjoying some quiet time in a hammock. I love that all the common areas at Sundara are electronics free, so I was forced to leave my phone behind and put work out of my mind. It wasn’t easy at first and I found myself being anxious about what I was missing.

Being forced to unplug can be painful at first, but the benefits are so worth it.

prenatal massageWith my skin saturated in essential oils and my mind at ease, it was time to feed my belly and I chose to enjoy dinner right here at Sundara with a meal prepared by Chef Chris. While the spa does provide a town-car to bring you out to dinner at a few different restaurant partners in Wisconsin Dells, I would highly recommend you stay in your comfy robe and sandals and eat on site instead. I had the scallops and the Veal Osso Bucco and I am not even exaggerating when I say that I licked the plate of both dishes. I have no shame. If so desired, you can choose to have your dinner delivered to your room so you can enjoy your in-room whirlpool tub or sit by the fireplace.

I read a book. Watched HGTV with no interruptions. Showered with no one banging on the door. Slept in the glorious king-sized bed straight through the night. I ate my complimentary breakfast and drank my coffee while both were still hot. Bliss, I tell you. Sundara is for adults-only so you won’t see anyone else’s kids here either.

Expecting Mamas :: Lean in real close for a second. Do whatever you gotta do get a Mother-to-Be Massage treatment. Oh, and swim in the infinity pool and feel weightless. And get a pedicure when you can’t see your toes! And REST, sweet rest. This place is a dream come true for the expecting mother!

Sundara Inn & Spa is about to get EVEN BETTER.

While I was there, ground was broken on the new expansion that is going to bring even more amenities to Sundara guests that are going to take this already incredible spa to the next level. Expected to be complete in about a year, this expansion will add over 30,000 square feet of space that will include a outdoor saltwater pool, an indoor pool with a swim-up beverage bar, a fitness center, outdoor fire pits and water features, an expanded salon and more space for Chef Chris to show off his culinary prowess featuring ingredients that will be grown on site in a rooftop garden.

Sundara is consistently voted a top resort and destination spot and attracts visitors from all across the US and it’s a super-easy drive from the Milwaukee area. If it’s time for you to invest in yourself this Mother’s Day, book your stay at this little piece of heaven that requires you to relax, unplug and slow down long enough to really feed your soul. I think we can all agree that’s something every mom deserves!

Please enter me in your contest. This post took me to a contest that ended February 21st(?!) This would be perfect for my daughter and my sister. Like every working mom, my daughter has her hands tied. She’s also going through some issues right now that winning this contest would may not relieve her of them but at least give her peace. As for my sister, she’s taken on the role of being a mother to the rest of her siblings.

  27. Cortney May 2, 2017 at 12:15 pm #

Being a single mother with 3 children is wonderful and exhausting at the same time. I’ve NEVER taken time for myself, which in turn has caused great stress and anxiety. I would love to be entered in the contest!! Best of luck to everyone!

  36. Janice Lambert May 2, 2017 at 1:49 pm #

This sounds wonderful. I was your mother’s primary caregiver for three years before she passed away in October. Also cared for my husband after he had open heart surgery and came home after a 4 and a half month hospital stay. I am 68 years old and am exhausted. I would love to get away and relax.

  37. Janice Lambert May 2, 2017 at 1:49 pm #

  42. Nancy M. May 2, 2017 at 3:04 pm #

We are relocating and my husband moved ahead of us so the kids could finish the school year. He is working, living in our next home, the kids are having a blast at the end of the school year, and I am doing all the packing, decluttering, cooking, hauling, everything on my own. My birthday is coming up and I will be spending it without my hubby, at a track meet for one child in the morning g and a party for the other child that evening. Yippee. This sounds like a dream! What an opportunity you have extended. Thanks for the chance!

  43. Lori Bautch May 2, 2017 at 3:04 pm #

  50. Katie K May 2, 2017 at 4:57 pm #

    This would be absolutely amazing!

  51. Courtney Knapp May 2, 2017 at 5:10 pm #

I would like to nominate my sister, Meagan June. Anyone who knows her would do the same and there is no one I know that deserves this break more. Her husband unexpectedly took his life October 2016 leaving behind four total children, two to his first wife and the other two my sister takes care of. Her two children are 2 and 6. On her toughest days, being a mother is her main reason for getting out of bed in the morning. Every morning her new reality sets in and her two children are her, sometimes only, reasons to be the best mother she can be and give them the best she can. Dealing with loss while life has to continue on is one of the hardest things a person can work through. She is never without children anymore and it would be amazing to see her win this.

  52. Danielle May 2, 2017 at 5:27 pm #

Oh my goodness this seems dreamy!!!

  53. Stef May 2, 2017 at 5:28 pm #

  54. Kim May 2, 2017 at 7:28 pm #

Oh my gosh after all the bad I’ve had in the past 4 years I could use this so much. Had my world turned upside down when my husband cheated. Almost lost my son twice in a months time. Had to move away from home and start over. Which has been one stressful situation to another. What I would give for something this fantastic!

  55. Amy Keltner May 2, 2017 at 8:20 pm #

Rest and relaxation? What’s that? I havent had a break like that in 25 years, being a mom of 9! I would look forward to a nap in a big bed all to myself and a bath in a tub that doesnt have My Little Ponies in it! Someone else to make breakfast?! Amazing! I would love for my nails to get done professionally, so I could feel pretty! I have been a mom almost my whole life, and I am very proud of what I have accomplished in my life, having beautiful healthy children, But seriously, after 25 years just one little break would be nice!
