*I received a chance to experience Sundara Inn & Spa in exchange for this post. All opinions and experiences shared are my own and we would not promote a business or service to our readers that we did not personally enjoy! Sundara is truly one of a kind and we are thrilled to share this opportunity with our audience!
I can’t speak for all mothers, but I know that for me, the ideal gift my family could give me for Mother’s Day is the opportunity to step away from being a Mom for a little bit and invest in self-care. If I may be so bold, I would suggest that every single mother NEEDS to do this on a regular basis and Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to drive away from your normal routine and indulge in whatever feeds your soul.
Recently, I had the chance to enjoy a getaway at Sundara Inn & Spa in the Wisconsin Dells and I can tell you right now that this will be on my wish list every. single. year.
Sundara Inn & Spa is nestled in a wooded area of Wisconsin Dells, bordering Lake Delton. It is a calm oasis, hidden among the chaos of waterparks, mini-golf and magic shows and it’s an easy drive from Milwaukee of about 2 hours. I’m a work from home mom and I feel like I am operating at full throttle 24/7, so this getaway was just what I needed to slow down and really give myself permission to recharge. It was the perfect reminder of how important it is to make our mental, physical and spiritual health a priority!
After checking into the GORGEOUS suite, I headed to the spa where it took me a hot second to actually realize that it was really okay for me to do this, to enjoy the alone time, to appreciate that there were people there who were willing to pamper me and make my experience the best it could be. Anyone else struggle with feeling awkward about that sometimes? I enjoyed the Rest Assured Soak and Massage treatment which included a hot soaking bath with essential oils followed by what can only be described as the best massage of my life. The finale was a eco-fin treatment that was applied to my feet paired with 15 minutes of silent rest that left me in absolute heaven. Seriously, I don’t know what kind of magic oils they put in those booties, but I was it was RIDICULOUS. The motto of Sundara is to ‘Energize Your Soul’ and I walked out of the treatment room feeling exactly that!
Prior to my treatment, I experienced the Purifying Bath Ritual. All guests of Sundara Inn & Spa have unlimited access to the Purifying Bath Ritual which includes the following:
- Rainfall Shower and Exfoliation
- Soothing Body Mist
- Aroma Steam
- Cooling Rainfall Shower
- Hot Pool
- Cool Plunge Pool
- Relaxation Lounge
In addition to the world-class spa, guests can enjoy the quiet of Tranquility Garden, the outdoor heated pool that’s available year round (complete with a heated deck and fire pit), plus there are hiking trails for meditation or enjoying some quiet time in a hammock. I love that all the common areas at Sundara are electronics free, so I was forced to leave my phone behind and put work out of my mind. It wasn’t easy at first and I found myself being anxious about what I was missing.
Being forced to unplug can be painful at first, but the benefits are so worth it.
With my skin saturated in essential oils and my mind at ease, it was time to feed my belly and I chose to enjoy dinner right here at Sundara with a meal prepared by Chef Chris. While the spa does provide a town-car to bring you out to dinner at a few different restaurant partners in Wisconsin Dells, I would highly recommend you stay in your comfy robe and sandals and eat on site instead. I had the scallops and the Veal Osso Bucco and I am not even exaggerating when I say that I licked the plate of both dishes. I have no shame. If so desired, you can choose to have your dinner delivered to your room so you can enjoy your in-room whirlpool tub or sit by the fireplace.
I read a book. Watched HGTV with no interruptions. Showered with no one banging on the door. Slept in the glorious king-sized bed straight through the night. I ate my complimentary breakfast and drank my coffee while both were still hot. Bliss, I tell you. Sundara is for adults-only so you won’t see anyone else’s kids here either.
Expecting Mamas :: Lean in real close for a second. Do whatever you gotta do get a Mother-to-Be Massage treatment. Oh, and swim in the infinity pool and feel weightless. And get a pedicure when you can’t see your toes! And REST, sweet rest. This place is a dream come true for the expecting mother!
Sundara Inn & Spa is about to get EVEN BETTER.
While I was there, ground was broken on the new expansion that is going to bring even more amenities to Sundara guests that are going to take this already incredible spa to the next level. Expected to be complete in about a year, this expansion will add over 30,000 square feet of space that will include a outdoor saltwater pool, an indoor pool with a swim-up beverage bar, a fitness center, outdoor fire pits and water features, an expanded salon and more space for Chef Chris to show off his culinary prowess featuring ingredients that will be grown on site in a rooftop garden.
Sundara is consistently voted a top resort and destination spot and attracts visitors from all across the US and it’s a super-easy drive from the Milwaukee area. If it’s time for you to invest in yourself this Mother’s Day, book your stay at this little piece of heaven that requires you to relax, unplug and slow down long enough to really feed your soul. I think we can all agree that’s something every mom deserves!
