March gave us a run for our money with that “third winter” nonsense, but April is when spring really puts on a show and WE. ARE. HERE FOR IT. There are some great happenings around the Milwaukee area this month that you will want to check out!

Bloom Milwaukee

April 19th – We couldn’t be happier that Bloom, a celebration of all things motherhood specifically designed for new moms and moms-to-be, is back at MKE Moms Blog for the 3rd year in a row! This popular event is a favorite for expectant Milwaukee area moms or those who are thinking of expanding their family. This is indeed a kid-free event, with the exception of young nurslings. It is rare that we as moms can get out and about on our own, and Bloom is all about taking an evening off and getting away from the routine for a celebration that’s all about YOU.

April 1st – Easter brunch at Stella Van Buren :: Join us for Easter brunch at Stella Van Buren. We will be serving up all your brunch favorites from our weekend brunch menu.

April 1st – Easter brunch buffet at Hom Wood Fired Grill :: Stop at Hom Wood Fired Grill at Bayshore Town Center for an Easter Brunch Buffet! Get your Easter plans set! We are offering an Easter Brunch from 11am-3pm and will be featuring a complimentary mimosa or bloody mary with any adult buffet ($26) or a complimentary orange juice with any kids buffet 10 or under ($13). Get your reservations at OpenTable or message us with any details.

April 1st Free Spring Family Event, Easter Bunny, and Egg Hunt ::  Come hang out with the Easter bunny (available 10:30-1:30), join FBBG for a morning of make-and-take kids’ crafts and an egg hunt running 10-2! You can also enjoy a delicious Easter Brunch with Zilli Hospitality Group (brunch not included in FBBG event).

April 5thKohl’s Thank You Thursday at Milwaukee Public Museum:: ALL visitors receive FREE general admission to MPM on the first Thursday of every month during Kohl’s Thank You Thursday. The Museum is open from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Kohl’s Thank You Thursday, the Butterfly Vivarium closes at 4:30 p.m. 

April 5th Meijer Free First Thursday at Milwaukee Art Museum :: Admission to the Milwaukee Art Museum is free for individuals and families (excluding group tours) on the first Thursday of each month, thanks to Meijer.

April 6-15th The Boxcar Children :: The adventures of “The Boxcar Children” have been enjoyed by generations and now come to life on the stage at the Racine Theatre Guild. Based on the book by Gertrude Chandler Warner and adapted for the stage by Barbara Field, “The Boxcar Children” is sponsored by SC Johnson and the National Endowment for the Arts.

April 8thThe Illusionists :: This mind-blowing spectacular showcases the jaw-dropping talents of five of the most incredible Illusionists on earth. April 10th Oak Creek Public Library Family Bingo :: Looking for something fun to do as a family during the school year?  Come to the Oak Creek Library as a family on a Tuesday night and participate in a different activity each month. This family program is free and geared toward children ages 5-10, but all ages are welcome.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all library programs.

April 14th re:Craft and Relic :: All things upcycled, vintage, and handmade from 150+ makers, artists, and junkers, all under one roof! April 14thScience Saturday at Discovery World :: Our live science series is now running all year-long! Held on our Promenade in the winter months, this is a free* science demonstration that is sure to impress! Learn about density by using an every day object like a balloon or the science behind pulling off a table cloth from a fully set table, and more! Experiments change monthly!

April 19th BLOOM Milwaukee :: An event for new and expecting mothers :: MKE Moms Blog is pleased to bring Bloom to the Milwaukee area for the third year in a row! If you are expecting (whether it is your first or final baby), a new mom or planning to add to your family, this is the event for you!This event is geared towards moms who are currently expecting a baby, had a baby within the last year, foster moms of infants, or are planning on growing their family soon. This event will provide an evening of pampering, light snacks & desserts, photo booth, educational resources, giveaways and swag, shopping and connecting moms and families with relevant local resources.

April 21stA Busy Bee : The Story of Bella the Honey Bee :: Short theatrical performance for children. Meet Bella! She’s bright, she’s brave, and best of all, she’s not afraid to try, try, try to find the job that she does best. Based on the delightful children’s story by SHARP Literacy and local artist Francisco Mora, this operatic world premiere composed by Ruben Piirainen is a collaboration between Florentine Opera Company and SHARP that celebrates the importance of teamwork, respect for others, and never giving up.

April 21st Marquette University Hunger Clean-Up :: Hunger Clean-Up has grown to be Marquette’s largest day of service- bringing together approximately 1,500 individuals to volunteer with over 50 agencies each April. This stage is set by a dedicated team of student leaders committed to service who work in the fall and spring to mobilize their peers while increasing awareness, support, and resources for local programs addressing issues of poverty. That’s being the difference!

April 21st23rd Annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Spring Cleanup :: Choose from over 60 locations across the Milwaukee River Basin, and be one of our nearly 4,000 volunteers to help us achieve swimmable, fishable rivers. We provide the bags and gloves, and you provide the hands and energy to pick up trash, litter, and the interesting or bizarre pieces of garbage that find their way into our beautiful river system. April 21st Riveredge Earth Day Service Fest :: Join Riveredge and celebrate Earth Day right by working hand in hand with Riveredge staff on fun, informative service projects that give back to both the planet and our community! From preparing and planting cool garden beds in our children’s organic garden to conducing grounds clean-up and invasive species removal to trail maintenance, this fest will provide you an opportunity to get your hands dirty while keeping our sanctuary green. There’s awesome opportunities for groups, families, and individuals of all ages to get involved and make a difference.

April 22nd Earth Day Random Recycled Art and Gift Show (RRAGS) :: A craft fair featuring local vendors, artists, and hand-made goods. “When you buy something from an artist you are buying more than an object. You’re

April 22nd Autism Awareness Brewers Game :: The Brewers are teaming up with Autism Speaks to celebrate the unique gifts of individuals with autism, raise awareness about autism disorders, and support autism research and advocacy. You can join the celebration by purchasing an Autism Awareness Day ticket package, which features a seat for the Brewers contest against the Marlins on Sunday, April 22 and a $3 donation to Autism Speaks.

April 26th Crayligraphy Night at The Real Good Life :: It’s modern calligraphy like the gorgeous lettering you see on Instagram, but with CRAYOLA MARKERS.
