Why is Does Shopping Smart Seem so HARD?

This post is presented in partnership with Frontier Co-op. All opinions are our own.

We all want to live WELL.

I mean, I don’t think I could find a single parent who could honestly say, “You know, I think I’m gonna do everything I can to make sure my family uses the most harmful products, eats the unhealthiest food, and throws money out the window of stuff we don’t need.” If we were being honest, all parents want the best for our families, but sometimes we can all admit that life gets hectic and stressful and we end up making choice for the sake of convenience or budget or because we are just simply TOO. TIRED. to try harder.

That’s parenthood, isn’t it? The best intentions derailed by reality and then we get up, dust ourselves off, and try again. Oftentimes, if we can find just one thing to simplify and improve, it can give us the boost we need to try something else and so on. I can’t even count the number of times I have thought, “I would LOVE to be choosing more natural products” or “Sure, buying organic would be great, but who can afford that?” or “I don’t have the time to drive all the way to the specialty store 45 minutes away to look for that specific item.”

When did shopping smart get so HARD?

I heard about a service called Frontier Co-Op. I started to browse the site to see what products were available and started to think this might be the solution I have been looking for! They carry many of the natural and organic products that I would typically have to go on a dedicated trip to a specialty store to find, but for a better price and shipped right to my door.

What is a Co-op exactly?

At first, I was a little confused by the whole “co-op” concept. I’ve heard of CSAs for fresh, local produce, but the idea of a co-op for other products seemed a little odd. After a little research on the Frontier website, it started to make more sense. Sort of like our beloved Green Bay Packers, the company is owned by its members and was founded with the goal of the “shared interests of their members” at the forefront.

How to Shop

As a customer, you have two options to choose from when you shop at Frontier Co-Op. You can opt for the Co-Op Membership that charges a one-time enrollment fee of $10 or you can choose the Non-Member Account that does not have the enrollment fee, but you then pay about 7% more for the products you actually purchase. What got me really excited is that I don’t have to hit any minimum order level when purchasing!

Share the Love

Obviously, when you find something you love, you tell your friends. So if you were to discover an affordable, easy way to shop smart for more natural products for my family, wouldn’t you want to let others know? Frontier Co-Op offers the option to start a buying club with your friends, neighbors, etc. who would then get to enjoy wholesale pricing when placing an order collectively for products like toiletries, essential oils, natural and organic food and snacks, household items, pantry staples, health & beauty items, and more.

The Welcome Box

I was absolutely delighted when my Welcome Box arrived at my door. As soon as I opened it, I found myself greeted by several old friends and products I already knew I loved like the lip balm by Burt’s Bees and the Bug Soother, plus some exciting new brands and products I had never tried before. And the SMELL. The fresh and clean sent of the Stoneworks Dryer Sheets immediately hit me and it was amazing. I had never tried a natural version of dryer sheets and we all know how crazy the static is around Wisconsin lately, so this was very interesting to me. The sheets are compostable and more than 97% made of naturally-derived ingredients. I was also intrigued by the Dr. Brite Natural Strawberry Sky Toothpaste, as the tube mentions that it has Vitamin C right in the toothpaste. And it smells so yummy! I know my kids are going to be excited to try it out.

Another pleasant surprise was how many pantry items arrived in the Welcome Box. Frontier Co-Op started their company selling herbs and spices and they included two of their signature products, the Frontier Crushed Red Chili Peppers and a sample of the Frontier Co-Op Himalayan Pink Salt, plus a jar of Simply Organic Ceylon Cinnamon

In addition to those household items like dryer sheets and toothpaste and the pantry staples like spices, Frontier Co-Op offers a wide selection of products that will make the day-to-day operations for families so much easier, such as the Ziptuck Reusable Lunch Bag Set from Full Circle and ChicoBag Reusable Shopping Bag they included in my Welcome Box.

More to Discover

After seeing what a fun sampling of products came in the Welcome Box, I was really intrigued to dig deeper into the website to see what other treasures I could find. We are out of the Baby Stage in my house, but I found a huge selection of baby products for everything from feeding to diapering and skin care. One of the other areas I have been wanting to start making improvements in is in swapping out my current cleaning products for healthier alternatives. There is an entire Green Cleaning section where you can find everything you could possibly be looking for in toxin-free, natural cleaning products!

Seriously, I could go on and on. There are even recipes, monthly brand features and sales, and so much more. There’s really so much to explore and experience with Frontier Co-op!
