Meet Tara

When I was younger, I was terrified of babies and kids. I hated babysitting, I didn’t know how to interact with the little humans I was in charge of taking care of. I never saw myself as a mom, or growing up and getting older for that matter. But alas, growing up is inevitable, and sometimes meeting someone you are so fully connected with can change your whole state of mind.

That’s what happened when my husband, Adam, and I started dating. He always wanted kids, and kids cling to him wherever we go. At first, it really freaked me out. But as time went on, I could start picturing myself as a wife and even as a mother. Adam truly believed that in me, and it made me so excited about a future I never dreamed of.

Fast forward to now – Adam and I have been married for almost 10 years and have two crazy little boys – Beckett who is 6 and Ellis who is 1. Becoming a mom is unlike anything I ever could’ve imagined. It’s wonderful, it’s stressful, and overwhelming all at once.

Both Adam and I are Wisconsin natives, and we lived in Bay View for 8 years. We grew to love the neighborhood so whole heartedly. But after we started growing our family, we made the incredibly hard decision to move, and build a new home in Muskego. We’ve been in Muskego for a little over a year now, and it’s been quite the adjustment. Leaving city life for the suburb life hasn’t been an easy one so far, but that’s a story for another time…

My third child, if you will, is the small business I run. I am the designer/illustrator/boss lady behind Cracked Designs, a greeting card and design company. Cracked Designs and myself are fully intertwined, it’s such a huge part of me. Being my own boss is intense, work never truly stops for me. So when I became a mom, I was adding this whole other intense thing to my life. Needless to say, it’s been challenging to balance both motherhood and work life. But it’s also a fun challenge for me. I enjoy keeping busy, and my workload and boys are happy to oblige.

Since I work from home and only have the company of a bossy 1 year old, I often crave time with other people. So, I am so excited to be apart of this team, and being able to connect with other moms. I think it’s important that we all share our stories with one another, let go of any judgement and just connect with one another. Because when it comes down to it, we’re all moms just doing our best trying not to fall asleep.

A little about me: I love music and have a vinyl collection I’m quite proud of. Art and design play a huge role in my life, vintage chairs are my weakness, and I love decorating my new home. I’ve been known to enjoy a good beer, good cheese, and a good old fashioned – like any true Wisconsinite should. I’m so happy to be here, and if you want to see inside my quirky world, you can find me on Instagram!
