September 8th – Goldfish Swim School Brookfield – Back to School Bash :: Join us for a Back to School Bash to kick off the school year! We will be blocking off our parking lot for a bounce house, balloon animals, face painting, crafts and so much more! We will also have 3 separate open swim times to ensure everyone has time to swim in our pool! This event is free for everyone so tell your friends and bring them along. See you there!

September 20thMKE MB 3rd Birthday Bash :: For the first time ever, MKE Moms Blog is thrilled to host an epic Moms Night Out event to celebrate our 3rd Birthday with YOU, the moms of the Milwaukee area who have been a part of our community! Enjoy beverage tastings, a cooking class, a comedy show from Milwaukee Comedy, and MORE while we celebrate 3 years!! August 29th – September 2nd115th Anniversary at Harley-Davidson Museum :: Enjoy acres of free outdoor activities all weekend long at the 115th Central Rally Point where H-D history and custom culture come to life.

September 1st Phenology Hike :: Take a hike around the park and learn what plants are flowering, and the names of the animals you see! Our regular Weekend Wellness Walk participants are free to join in to keep getting your weekly exercise in. The hike will take a single loop throughout the park, stopping at a variety of different habitats along the way.

September 1stHistoric Third Ward Welcomes Harley Davidson -115th Anniversary :: The Historic Third Ward is thrilled to welcome Harley-Davidson® for a neighborhood street festival celebrating the 115th Anniversary of one of Milwaukee’s most beloved institutions. Experience our vibrant and exciting historic warehouse district with FREE motorcycle parking on Broadway, two stages of live music, and delicious local fare and drink. 

September 1st – Saturday Stories – Fine Feathered Friends :: Come listen to a Dr. Seuss Series book, and participate in a related activity! Topics change each week. Bring a camping chair or blanket for a comfy story-time.

September 1st – 3rd An Old World Summer at Old World Wisconsin :: All summer long Old World Wisconsin offers the chance to step back in time – to share stories, learn living traditions, and try new things that make memories for the future

September 2ndBig Gig BBQ :: The Big Gig BBQ will feature many fest favorite activities from past years, including cooking demonstrations, picnic games and attractions, music, and the best BBQ in town.

September 2nd Free Summer Movie Nights :: Gift of Wings is excited for this Summers last movie night in Veteran’s Park! We will be having a Double Feature on Sunday September 2nd playing “The Karate Kid” and “Spaceballs”. Bring your blankets and chairs and find a great spot for a fun night outdoors before the kids go back to school. Gift of Wings will have food, ice cream and drink for sale. Popcorn is only $1.00!

September 4th – First Tuesdays – Free Entry to Milwaukee County residents to Boerner Botanical Gardens :: First Tuesdays at The Gardens, the free-admission day for Milwaukee County residents, will be offered from May through September, except major holidays. In 2018, the free days are May 1, June 5, July 3, Aug. 7, and Sept. 4. To receive free admission, residents must show ID and proof of residency.

September 5thSculpture Milwaukee Walking Tour :: Join Simply Scholarly as we stroll down Wisconsin Avenue and learn about the 8 “west of the Milwaukee River” sculptures that are gracing the Avenue this year. Find out what that smudge of paint on the sidewalk is all about, what famous basketball player’s arm was used as a cast, are those two men hugging or dancing and do those two black and white sculptures really go together?!?

September 6th – Kohl’s Thank You Thursday, Free Admission to the Milwaukee Public Museum :: ALL visitors receive FREE access to the permanent exhibits of MPM on the first Thursday of every month during Kohl’s Thank You Thursday.

September 6th – Free Admission to Milwaukee Art Museum :: Admission is free the first Thursday of the month, sponsored by Meijer. 

September 7thKids Fishing Friday :: Park staff will supply poles and bait for up to 20 children as we fish for panfish. Children younger than 16 do not require a fishing license.

September 8th Silver City InterNational Festival :: This fun festival celebrates the cultural diversity of the Silver City neighborhood through food, the arts, and music! Nearly 3,000 neighbors and visitors traveled the world along West National Avenue between South 33rd and 35th street last year and sampled ethnic cuisine from countries spanning the globe while also enjoying live art performances, free live music, free activities for kids and displays from local businesses.

September 8th – 9th Third Ward Art Festival :: In addition to the incredible artwork, the festival features live music and great food from on-site and neighboring restaurants. Fun art activities for kids make the Third Ward Art Festival a destination for art enthusiasts of all ages. With an array of restaurants, pubs, theaters, galleries and unique shopping experiences surrounding the festival, guests are guaranteed a day full of art, culture and fun at the Third Ward Art Festival.

September 8thLaborfest 2018 :: Each year, members of the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, put on the biggest festival on the Milwaukee Lakefront that’s open to the public without the price of admission. Through the generosity of local unions and the companies at which they work, we can bring you a day of fun at the lakefront that includes live music for adults and families, children’s entertainment like science and magic shows, a classic car show and union raffle which has included a genuine union-made Harley-Davidson motorcycle for several years. Whether you come for the food, the fun or the freedom to put up your feet and gaze into the lakefront horizon on Labor Day, the day set aside for workers, Laborfest has something for everyone.

September 8th –  Harbor Fest :: Harbor Fest reintroduces Milwaukee to its harbor. For a long time, this area has been seen as “off limits” or unwelcoming, but it’s time to show Milwaukee its true potential. The recent planning process calls for a Riverwalk and new public parks along the water. This festival is the first step in bringing people back to this area. This family-friendly festival includes fun activities like paddling lessons, fishing lessons, pet a sturgeon fish, bike tour, street games, boat parade, and food & drink.

September 8th Milwaukee WingFest :: A fun-filled afternoon of wings, beer and entertainment, Milwaukee WingFest is back for its 8th year. While you are filling yourself with endless amounts of wings and washing it down with beverages, you can enjoy the LIVE music as well as watch the brave souls who put their stomachs on the line in our famous wing-eating contest.

September 8th – 9th Wilde Subaru Frank Mots Int’l Kite Festival … A Whale of a Time :: The Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois, along with Gift of Wings, are presenting the WILDE SUBARU FRANK MOTS INT’L Kite Festival..A WHALE OF A TIME. This fun filled family event is FREE to all, with plenty of FREE parking.

September 10th, 17th, and 24th – Mitchell Park Domes :: Free Entry for MKE Residents every Monday from 9am-noon. Experience a desert oasis, a tropical jungle and floral gardens . . .all in one afternoon! The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, better known as The Domes, is one of the most unique destinations in Milwaukee. Discover cacti, succulents, shrubs and desert palms in the Desert Dome. Enjoy five seasonal shows each year in the Floral Dome and walk among 1,200 species of rainforest plants in the Tropical Dome. The Domes are open every day of the year and host special events and educational programs throughout the year.

September 14th Art on the Plaza :: This new event brings live music, local artists, great food trucks, and family-friendly activities together for a memorable night of creativity and fun.

September 15th Bay View Bash :: The Bay View Bash is a community festival of food, art, music, crafts, books, and community organizations.The Bash is the main funding source of the Bay View Community Fund Inc, a IRS certified 501(c)4, Non-for-Profit Foundation. All proceeds from the Bay View Bash are directly invested back into our city’s neighborhoods by through GRANTS to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations who request funding for special projects. Additionally, the Bay View Bash partners with local composting group Kompost Kids to continue efforts in making the Bash a Zero Waste Festival.

September 15th Free Summer Movie Night :: Gift of Wings along with the Greendale park and rec are excited to show “CoCo” in Greendale’s Gazebo Park on Saturday September 15th. Finish your Summer off right with a fun night outdoors! Bring your blankets and chairs and find a great spot. Gift of Wings will have food, ice cream and drink for sale. Popcorn is only $1.00!

September 15th Holy Hill Arts and Crafts Fair :: This is the fair you don’t want to miss! 230 artists & craftsmen displaying their works in a natural setting. Fair-goers can stroll winding, wooded landscapes while enjoying the works of highly talented artists and crafters. The Fair also features live entertainment, refreshments, door prizes and a silent auction. Admission is $5.00 (children 12 and under are free), and includes free shuttle bus service from and to the parking areas and entry for door prizes. 

September 15th MKE Upcycle :: This event will showcase some of the best repurpose/upcycle artisans in the area. The focus of the show is furniture, home décor, art, jewelry and lighting. 

September 15th – 16th Wine & Harvest Festival :: With the abundance of Wisconsin’s homegrown produce and artisan foods plus the award-winning wines of Cedar Creek Winery, this free, family-oriented arts and crafts event is an absolute must for all fest-goers! The Festival Food Court located at the Community Center features grilled corn, BBQ, gyros, seafood, noodles, fried cheese, brats, burgers, grilled foods, and many more delicious delights.

September 15th – 16th Holy Hill Art & Farm Market :: Over 200 Artists, Crafters and Farmers. Come meet our Market Folks See their work and talk with them about custom work. Go back to the basics… Sit and enjoy coffee,hot sandwiches, bakery and other refreshments. Bring family and friends to enjoy lunch and our live musicians while taking your time to Shop – Relax – Create on our 80 acre 160 year old farm homestead in the heart of the Kettle Moraine Always Free Parking and Admission.

September 17th Constitution Day – Free Screening of RBG :: Free screening of RBG, the 2018 critically-acclaimed, docu-biography about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The film explores RBG’s extraordinary life and career and her numerous contributions to issues involving gender discrimination. Join us after the screening for a discussion of the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment.

September 19thBeach Bonfire :: Come meet the staff at Lakeshore, and bond over pudgy pies and s’mores! Feel free to bring a musical instrument if you’d like to entertain!

September 22nd Milwaukee Day at the East Troy Railroad :: Learn About Riding Trains and Trolleys in Milwaukee 100 years ago! Today only we feature streetcars, trolleys and equipment that ran in the Milwaukee area 75 to 100 years ago. We will have all the operating equipment on display and the trains running between East Troy and Mukwonago will feature Milwaukee equipment too. Your ticket is good to ride all day.

September 22nd Milwaukee Comic Con :: The Milwaukee Comic Con is taking over the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Comic Con will feature over 300 artist tables, vendor booths, and special guests. But we’re also bringing cash prize cosplay contests, video and table top gaming tournaments, and a whole weekend of fun! Milwaukee’s largest comic book and pop culture event!

September 22nd – 23rd :: Doors Open Milwaukee :: Doors Open Milwaukee is a two-day public celebration of Milwaukee’s art, architecture, culture and history. This event offers behind the scenes tours of more than 150 buildings throughout Milwaukee’s downtown and neighborhoods and in-depth tours led by community leaders. Doors Open sites include commercial properties, sacred spaces, apartment buildings, breweries, art galleries, community gardens and more stretching from downtown to the surrounding suburbs, and the neighborhoods between.

September 22nd – 23rd Midwest Magic Fest :: Wizards, Witches, and Warlocks alike are welcome to join us for the Midwest Magic Fest at the Waukesha County Expo Center. This is our original take on magic through the ages and we hope that we conjured something to enchant fans of all ages. Come and enjoy the EIGHT magical performances, our interactive Wizards Wand Duel, our Wizards Profile Experience, our Not-So-Forbidden Forest, make your own wands, make your own potion bottle, professional photo booths, professional GIF booths, costume contests, Quidditch games, beer garden games, owls, snakes and many more displays and experiences – you will want to spend the entire weekend with us!

September 28th Puppets in the Park :: New This Year! Come see a puppet play in the park! Lakeshore State Park staff will be performing plays based on books by Mo Willems and Ann Blum, followed by an interactive game/activity. Bring a camping chair or blanket for a comfy story-time.

September 28th – 30th Maker Faire Milwaukee :: Maker Faire Milwaukee, is a family-friendly event that welcomes makers – tech enthusiasts, artist, inventors, crafters, educators, tinkerers and hobbyists of all ages – to exhibit their work and share their knowledge and skills with other makers and with the community. Over 100 makers will be featured at Maker Faire Milwaukee along with family-friendly activities, hands-on experiments, crafts for maker of all ages, and opportunities to work with tools and technology.

September 29th Elm Grove Oktoberfest :: The 3rd annual Elm Grove Oktoberfest will be held this year on Saturday, September 29th in the Village Park from 4pm to 10pm. The Jeff Winard Band will provide live German and Polka music through the afternoon and evening, followed a DJ spinning your favorite tunes through the rest of the night. Local craft beers from Raised Grain and Third Space Brewing will be featured in an authentic German Beer tent and an assortment of sausages and traditional German food will be available throughout the evening. Come early for festivities and stay for dinner with the family. Later, feel free to send the kids home and enjoy the craft beers and late-night music.

September 29th Sturgeonfest :: Enjoy family fun at Sturgeon Fest – one of the biggest annual conservation events and festivals in Wisconsin, returning a breeding population of Sturgeon to Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River!
